What you will need:

  • Credit card or felt edged squeegee

  • Liquid dish detergent

  • Lint free cloth

Prep the surface:

  • Clean the desired surface with your watered down liquid dish detergent. Ensure all detergent and dirt is removed from the wall.

  • Dry the surface with your lint free cloth. Make sure the surface is free from all dust and dirt. (If any dust is left on the surface it will cause your decal to bubble, to avoid this only apply on days where there is no wind and the temperature is between 10 and 32 degrees.

Application:

There are three layers to your vinyl decal. The backing paper, the vinyl decal and the transfer tape. Large decals do take some time to apply, take your time to measure up and apply to ensure a smooth flawless finish. Please read application instruction to the end before you start.

Small Wall Decal

1: Scrape your credit card or squeegee over the backing paper really well but gently to ensure the vinyl decal adheres really well to the transfer tape.

2: Peel the backing paper from the transfer tape slowly to ensure the entire vinyl decal has adhered to the transfer tape.

3: Carefully line up the decal on desired surface. Starting from one side, stick the decal to the surface and using your squeegee or credit card start working your way to the other side of the decal while applying a light pressure.

4: Once the decal is applied, slowly remove the transfer tape at a sharp backwards angle away from the decal. If part of the decal starts coming up when removing the transfer tape – stop. Put that area of the decal back down and rub over it again with the credit card or squeegee.

Large Wall Decal

1: Scrape your credit card or squeegee over the backing paper really well but gently to ensure the vinyl decal adheres really well to the transfer tape.

2: Peel about 1 inch of the transfer tape from the backing paper.

3: Carefully line up the exposed transfer tape on the desired surface. Stick the exposed transfer tape where you would like. Using your credit card or squeegee slowly scrape your way out from the centre to the outside of the decal. Slowly peel back a little more of the backing paper and again working from the centre using your credit card or squeegee to the wall. Do this until it is finished.

4: Once the decal is applied, slowly remove the transfer tape at a sharp backwards angle away from the decal. If part of the decal starting to come up when removing the transfer tape – Stop. Put the area of the decal back down and rub it with the credit card or squeegee.

NOTE: Newly painted walls will need 8 weeks to cure before applying. Walls that have not been primed properly WILL peel if they come into contact with transfer tape. Art & Blade won’t take responsibility for walls that have been poorly prepared prior to painting. If you are unsure if your walls are safe to apply a wall decal - stick some sticky tape to your walls in an inconspicuous area to trial before applying your wall decal.
